\n\nArchitectural photographer Darren Soh has appealed to Tampines Town Council and Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, David Neo, the area's MP, to reconsider painting over the brick facade at Blocks 497A-L at Tampines Street 45.
\n\nThe blocks have been designated to undergo repairs and redecoration works, with residents being given three proposed paint schemes to vote on.
\n\nThe voting period began on Aug. 29 and will end on Sep. 13.
\n\nHowever, architectural photographer Darren Soh has warned that painting over the brick facade will be an irreversible move that would “completely wipe out the spirit and essence of the estate.”
\n\nTampines Town Council said that each design had been thoughtfully curated to give the neighbourhood a "fresh and vibrant look" while complementing existing surroundings.
\n\nThree colour schemes were provided for residents of the blocks to choose from.
\n\nTwo of the colour schemes are significantly more colourful than the current bare-faced brick look that the blocks currently sport, with colour scheme 1 being matched to closely mimic the existing design.
