\n\nA Singaporean actress and influencer were allegedly spotted at a networking session in Alexandra organised by individuals purportedly involved in a suspected pyramid scheme.
\n\nOn Sep. 4, Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) revealed that 52 Singaporeans had been arrested and detained in Guangxi, China.
\n\nThis came on the back of a law enforcement operation against suspected pyramid scheme activities and related offences.
\n\nSeveral Singaporeans, who had been invited to Nanning (the capital of Guangxi) for the alleged scheme, told local media that they were introduced to it as a business opportunity linked to the development of the city.
\n\nThey later suspected that the programme was a pyramid scheme, although some had already invested thousands of dollars by then.
\n\nThey also claimed that they had seen fellow Singaporeans conducting meetings and presentations about the programme and its purported investment opportunities.
\n\nA Mothership reader, Alex (not his real name), said he attended two networking sessions in Singapore that he believes were connected to the alleged scheme.
\n\nAlex said a friend who had been involved in the scheme for about a year had approached him about joining.
